Eldercare Manager

With a background in academia, media production, union organising and community engagement, Jennifer has spent twenty years working on initiatives that address social inequality.

She is the founder and producer of TheStringer.com.au, an independent news platform dedicated to amplifying marginalised stories.

She also established the First Nations Homelessness Project (FNHP), where she led efforts to prevent the eviction of First Nations families from public housing and reduce the removal of children by child protection authorities. FNHP’s approach was hands-on, providing consistent support to at-risk families and building partnerships with community and government stakeholders to help families stay safely housed and together. FNHP’s work was widely recognized for its positive impact and on Australia Day 2019, Jennifer was awarded the Citizen of the Year medal. The legacy of FNHP continues to influence housing advocacy and community support models for First Nations families.

Jennifer now coordinates Yokai’s service delivery of Elder Care initiatives to Stolen Generations survivors. This work turns to squarely face the enduring impact of government policies that forcibly separated families, a practice that leaves deep scars across generations.

Addressing these intergenerational traumas involves more than just recognizing the pain of the past; it requires providing survivors with the resources, recognition, and support they need towards healing.
